Hotel Review: Cork Airport Hotel | Cork, Ireland
On a trip with my dad to Ireland, Cork was one of our planed overnight stays. However, it was not in our original plans to stay at the Cork Airport Hotel. I’m a master of travel planning if I must pat myself on the back. But on this trip, I made a rare mistake of booking a hotel stay on the wrong date. Ooops!

I had booked two rooms at the Oriole House Hotel in Ballincolig and had booked two rooms through Hotels.com. Unfortunately, I booked the rooms one day too early and didn’t realize this until the day of check-in. I tried working with Hotels.com Gold customer service and the hotel to see if they could accommodate pushing the reservation back one night. Unfortunately, the hotel was sold out the next night and they would not offer a refund.
Oddly, nearly every hotel in the Cork area was sold out and it was tough to find any available hotel. But even though the Hotels.com customer service team couldn’t get my originally booking refunded, the did offer me a €50 voucher towards rebooking another hotel. I was able to secure two rooms a the Cork Airport Hotel for €90 each. That was more than I paid for than the oringla hotel but I din’t have many options.
Being so far outside the city center wasn’t ideal but it did make parking our rental car a bit easier (and probably less expensive). But if you’re flying in or out of the Cork airport, the location of the Cork Airport Hotel is very convenient. Plus, the nearby tarmac views were cool for and AvGeek like me.
There’s close-by parking directly in front of the hotel and parking is complimentary for hotel guests. Check-in was quick and easy the front desk staff was friendly. We were given two adjacent rooms on the second floor.
The room was basic and clean with a unique color scheme, There was a fairly comfortable double bed, a work desk, standard TV, and vanity table in the room. The bathroom was brightly colored but clean and the towels were soft and fresh. There were some basic in-room toiletries on the bathroom counter. The WiFi connection was easy and moderately fast. Overall the room was comfortable, clean and equipped with all the basics.
In terms of dining, we ate in the hotel restaurant for a late dinner as well as the breakfast buffet. Dinner in the restaurant was moderately Breakfast was impressive and has a sports bar atmosphere. The wait staff at dinner was friendly and chatty. Breakfast at the Cork Airport Hotel is complimentary and there’s a nice buffet spread in the restaurant. For breakfast the staff was rarely around but considering breakfast is complimentary, I’m not going to gripe.
Overall, we had a comfortable stay at the Cork Airport Hotel. With free parking, clean rooms, friendly service, and complimentary breakfast, it’s an all around decent 3-star hotel. Even though I made a mistake on the originally booking, fortunately things worked out well thanks to the Cork Airport Hotel and Hotels.com customer service.
