Trip Report: Alaska Airlines 737-800 Economy Class | San Diego to Honolulu

Trip Report: Alaska Airlines 737-800 Economy Class | San Diego to Honolulu

Making the journey to Hawaii for a 10 day holiday, our final outbound leg would be aboard Alaska Airlines from San Diego to Honolulu. This was an award booking  with American Airlines AAdvantage miles with the first segment form DFW to San Diego on American Airlines. We’d been upgraded thanks to my Executive Platinum status on the first leg but we wouldn’t be eligible for an upgrade not the Alaska operated flight. Award booking method for this flight: Economy Class…

American Airlines Launching New Route from DFW to Iceland

American Airlines Launching New Route from DFW to Iceland

Well I’m calling this one a Tuesday morning surprise! American Airlines announced this morning that they are launching a new route from DFW to Iceland starting in June 2018. My good friend Ben and fellow avgeek sent me a note this morning to give me a heads up. This seasonal service brings the total count to three carriers that will offer service from Dallas Fort Worth to Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik. Why is it so Popular to Dislike American Airlines and AAdvantage Lately?

Why is it so Popular to Dislike American Airlines and AAdvantage Lately?

While the recent United Airlines’ passenger incident (I’m not touching that topic, folks) has dominated the news, there’s another hot topic in the airline blogging world: a sudden distaste for American Airlines’ AAdvantage. So why is it so popular to dislike American Airlines lately? I’m still trying to figure that one out. Trip Report: American Airlines A319 Business Class | Mérida to Dallas

After a very lovely extended weekend in Mérida and the surrounding Yucatan region, it was time to head back home to Dallas. The flight from Mérida to Dallas is a short hop of less than 2.5 hours, a wee bit shorter than the flight between Dallas and Cancun. This particular route is operated by American Airlines in varied frequency, rotating between 6x weekly during the summer peak season and reducing to 1x weekly during the fall. We were headed home on the July 4…

Lounge Review: Cathay Pacific Lounges at Hong Kong | The Wing Business Class vs. The Bridge Business Class

Lounge Review: Cathay Pacific Lounges at Hong Kong | The Wing Business Class vs. The Bridge Business Class

On my latest trip to Hong Kong, I flew American’s ultra-longhaul flight between DFW and Hong Kong on both outbound and the return. I did visit the American Airlines Admiral Club at DFW on the outbound flight which is an okay lounge. However, in comparison, the Cathay Pacific lounges at HKG are fantastic. With a 2:30 PM departure from HKG on my return flight, I arrived fairly early to the airport as I wanted plenty of time spend in one or more of…

Trip Report: DFW to Hong Kong | American Airlines 777-300ER Main Cabin Extra

Hong Kong has become one of my favorite cities and I just returned from a quick trip. With American Airlines’ nonstop service between DFW and Hong Kong, it makes short trips doable over a long weekend. (At least for me!) Here’s my full report on the world’s tenth longest commercial airline route, out and back! Outbound Trip: DFW >> HKG  American Airlines 777-300ER, Seat 31C Upon arrival at DFW, I quickly cleared security at Terminal D and headed straight for…
